RULES FOR
IDAHO STATE COMPETITION QUALIFYING
Team
A minimum of the top 25% of registered teams from each chapter competition will
qualify for the state competition.
Individuals
A minimum of the top 10% of registered individual participants also will qualify
for the state competition. Any of these top individual finishers that are not on
a qualifying team qualify to come to the state competition as individual
participants.
Registration Basis
The basis for the team and individual qualifying calculations will be the number
of registered teams and individuals as of the last day of registration. See the
attached chart for actual examples.
Team Substitutions
A state competition team should be made up of the school's official team
participants at the chapter competition. If an official team participant
voluntarily gives up his or her position on the team, the coach may make a
substitution. The first choice for substitutions will be registered individual
chapter participants from the school. If the school had no registered individual
chapter participants or none are available, the coach may substitute other
eligible students from the school.
Substitution for a chapter participant who qualifies for state only as an
individual (not as part of a qualifying team) is not allowed.
Alternates
Each qualifying team may bring one alternate to the state competition The first
choice for an alternate will be a registered individual chapter participant from
the school that hasn't already been substituted onto the team. If the school had
no registered individual chapter participants, or none are available, the coach
may select another eligible student from the school. Alternates are not eligible
for trophies or national competition qualifying. The alternate can be
substituted onto the official team at the state competition registration if one
of the team members becomes ill or otherwise incapacitated. No substitutions
will be allowed after the start of the competition.
It is the chapter coordinator's prerogative to decide whether to allow
alternates at the chapter competition.
