Boise Engineer Named 2004 Young Engineer of The Year

Boise, Idaho - March 5, 2004 - Heather Carroll, PE, has been named 2004 Young Engineer of the Year by the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE). This award annually recognizes a young engineer who has achieved academic and professional success, contributed to the professional and technical society and to the community.

Carroll graduated from Gonzaga University Magna Cum Laude and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Business Administration at Boise State University. She is the Vice President/Secretary of Doherty & Associates, Inc in Boise, where she is a transportation engineer working on many different types of transportation projects including roads and airport planning.

Carroll is an active members of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Institute of Traffic Engineers. She is very active in other aspects of the community as well, participating in the Women's Fitness Challenge and Race for the Cure, delivering Meals on Wheels, volunteering for the Idaho Food Bank, and tutoring at the Juvenile Detention Center. Carroll will be the Idaho candidate for National Young Engineer of the Year in 2005.

As a professional society, the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers works to ensure public safety by promoting quality engineering work and increasing the expertise of Idaho’s engineers. The organization contributes to public understanding of how engineers and engineering affect the daily lives of Idaho residents. ISPE members are major volunteers in the MATHCOUNTS program, which encourages engineering and math studies by elementary school students.
